Hi. My name is Tony Rossel and I came to Hespeler back in April 2019 when I joined the magazine, Neighbours of Hespeler Village as someone who wanted to become the new publisher. Although I worked in Cambridge since 2009 and thought I knew Hespeler and Cambridge... I had no idea.

2019 began my journey into learning about Hespeler's deep history and passion as a community. (Where else will you see lawn signs celbrating the neighbourhood like here???)

​

My job entailed learning about neighgbours and connecting them to the community, and also building relationships with local businesses who essentially finance the magazine so that everyone can enjoy it.

​

In 2022 I had a conversation with Vanessa Stevenson who was the GM of Homewood Suites about this crazy idea I had. "I want to create a networking event that is exclusively for Hespeler businesses and business owners who live here in Hespeler." 

​

"That's awesome, Tony. What were you thinking?" Vanessa asked me.

​

After confessing that this was all I had, she offered me space and snacks. I didn't have any idea on what to call the event so Julia recommended "Hespeler is Home" after a T-shirt that Tim who worked there always wore. The rest is history.

​

17 networking events later, and "Hespeler is Home" morphed into a YouTube channel, some community events and now this website which I hope grows into the spot where Hespelerites turn to for anything they need pertaining to Hespeler.
